Halloween 2011
I went to Hard Rock, Hollywood, FL dressed up as a skeleton. Passion was amazing! Interestingly I saw more people dressed up as pirates, mario brothers, romans and fairies. I thought this would be more angry birds. I saw one only. Well tomorrow is halloween. We're going to South Beach tomorrow. Maybe we'll see more interesting costumes. More pictures are coming soon.

Jelly Fishes are back in South Beach and Miami Beach
In February 2011 it was the Portuguese Man o' War (jellyfish) that invaded the beach of Miami and again jelly fishes are back. This time it's moon jellyfish. They look like the common round jellyfishes. And they too sting. Around mid August 2011 when I went to the beach, there were thousands of them on the shoreline and in the water. (I didn't have my camera on me to take the pic).
Jelly fish sting does not cause serious injuries, but if you're stung, its painful. Best not to get into the water. And if you do get stung, rush to the lifeguard's station. They do have solutions to ease the itching and burning from the sting. Better to check the warning flags at the lifeguard's station before getting into the water anytime of the year.
Here is a link to my last post about jellyfishes in South Beach, Miami: http://newyorkerinmiami.blogspot.com/2011/02/jelly-fish-at-south-beach.html

Linville Falls
Yep, we drove again from NY to Miami. This time we took a wonderful route, Blue Ridge Parkway instead of I95. On the way we stopped at Linville Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. The fall is amazing. There are three different falls but we got to see only one as it was getting dark. We're definitely taking the Blue Ridge Parkway again and we want to visit all the falls.
Here are some pictures of Blue Ridge Parkway.

Bicycle rental made easy
Renting a bike in South Beach has become as easy as renting a luggage cart at the airport. The whole thing is automated. Simply use your credit card, tent a bike and return it back to the station. This picture was taken in front of Five Guys on 15th and Washington Ave.

Jelly fish at South Beach
On the first week of February, 2011 I went to south beach a few times. At the lifeguard's station they had the purple flag flying for 'dangerous marine life'. It was the jelly fishes, Portuguese Man o' War to be exact. On the shore there were thousands of these jelly fishes. I saw a whole bunch of these ballooned jelly fishes flouting on the water. Some of them were pretty big, but most of them were a little bigger than a golf ball. A few people got stung by jelly fish and the rushed to the lifeguard's station for first aid. So if you decide to go to the beach anytime soon, be careful.

Bayside Park
I have been going to this park for a year but I never noticed the small manmade tropical garden. It's a bit hidden. It's just opposite of the small beach. It's a nice place to go on a date - enough privacy if you know what I mean... ;)

Margaret Pace Park
Margaret Pace Park is a really nice park by the Biscayne Bay close to Downtown Miami. It had a wonderful view of the bay and South Beach skyline. It's right in between two major bridges to South Beach from Miami.
The park is prefect for jogging, basketball, soccer, tennis, beach volleyball and occasionally cricket. It's one of the most dog friendly park I have seen so far. There are picnic spots with grills right by the bay.
On the bay shore you would notice mangrove - something we dont get to see in NYC too often.
As far as I know Dexter was shot here. Also Dostana, a Bollywood movie was shot here too.

Galaxy Tab - T-mobile
Recently I cracked the screen of my Motorola Cliq. Cracked screen isn't covered by the warranty. Do I went to the T-Mobile store to get a new phone. I really liked the HTC My Touch 4G. Then the helpful sales person told me about buy one get one free deal. Since I break my phone a lot, I was considering buying a free backup phone just to be on the safe side. That's when I saw the new Galaxy Tab. I played with it and I fell in love with it.
I was planning on getting an iPad at one point, but it's too expensive and the 3G connection isn't cheap either. Also I felt the ipad is too big to carry. Since I work from home, I needed a true portable device that will allow me to leave home and still be able to keep up with work. This device did a lot more than that - it replaced my laptop and most of the functions of my phone. It's light, portable and most importantly functional. The swype option that lets you swype across keypad without taking the finger off is amazing. 16 gigs of space is more than enough for me.
Do it turned out I do most of my blogging with this Samsung Galaxy Tab. I take pictures, edit them, blog, twitter, yelp, goggle, gmap, research and facebook with this. It's so much easier and faster. If you are a frequent traveler, I certainly recommend Galaxy tab.
Here is a picture of my Galaxy Tab taking a picture of biscayne bay at night. Most of the recent pictures I took are with the Tab. Please let me know what you think.

Welcome 2011 - Downtown Fort Lauderdale
This was my second NYE in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Last year I missed the ball drop and the fireworks. This year we were really close to the whole thing. There were so many people on the street, but it wasn't as packed as Times Square. It was a wonderful night to be out. All being said, I still think NYE is more lively in NYC than in Miami.
