The DBR (The Democratic Republic Of Beer) Miami

The Democratic Republic Of Beer - Miami is a small classy bar located on 225 NE 14th street, Miami is one of the few places in Miami I have been to has a fine collection of domestic and international beers. With a 12 pages of beer lists and a relaxed atmosphere, I really like d this place.

The beer I tried here today is Flying Dog's In-Heat Wheat. It's an American Hefeweizen beer. The Flying Dog brewery has a great sense of humor. Here is what it says on the back of the beer:

Downtown Miami

A shot of downtown Miami. In so many ways it reminds me of Chicago with the river going through the city. Over the ground train is something we dont see in nyc. i wonder how it would have looked like with subways going over the ground on bridges around midtown Manhatten.

Guns!!??

I don't think I ever saw any gun stores while I was living in NYC. I doubt there are any. Here I am in South Beach driving down Alton road and wow, a gun depo! It surprises me to see how Miami is so different from nyc.

South Beach, the day after Christmas

The beach is empty - just a few people walking around in jackets or sweat shirts. Last year this time out wasn't so cold. I was able to get into water and it was nice.Maybe I have lived in Miami long enough to get used to the warm weather. It's still better than freezing cold Conry Island or Jones Beach.

Buffelo Wild Wings, Dolphin Mall

Watched the Giants and Eagles game at Buffelo Wild Wings @ Dolphin Mall, Miami. They have too many screens with all the games. I wish Giants played the same all the way. Anyway, the mall is pretty big but i didnt get to explore the whole place. The mall was packed because of the holiday shoppers. Parking was crazy. Getting in and out of the mall was a little packed but not as bad.

I wanted to find out where Dexter, the popular HBO show were shot. I thought the whole show was shot in Miami. Here are some locations:

Bayside Mall (shot of Dexter walking around)
Bayside Park (victim of ice-truck killer by the water fountain)
Ocean Drive (Dexter looking for victims, talking about human nature)

Michael Jackson's Beat It at Mangos

Mangoes at Ocean Drive, South Beach, Miami

This video was taken around late March 2010. Every now and then the performers at Mangos would dance to a number of Michael Jackson songs. They are well choreographed and not to mention the dancers are really good looking.

Captain Tony's Saloon in Key West

Captain Tony's Saloon in Key West is A Key West Landmark and National Treasure. The Saloon was established in 1851 at 428 Greene Street Key West, Florida. It used to be called Sloppy Joe's. Author Hemingway used to be a regular at this bar. This is where he used to write and meet people.

Today, the bar seems the same. However, the first things one would notice are the visiting cards and pictures posted all over the walls and ceiling, and bras with shot out written on them posted all around the bar.
